Auto Wave Creation for WMS

Overview

Streamline Fulfillment via Auto Wave Creation in WMS

Enhance the Warehouse Management System (WMS) flow by addressing NetSuite’s standard auto-commit behavior, which can disrupt order fulfillment. Waves are automatically created and released when users trigger the “Print Picking Ticket” action on a Sales Order. This locks item commitments at the time of picking ticket generation and ensures fulfillment aligns with customer payments.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How to know if the picking ticket and wave were successfully created?

The picking ticket PDF automatically opens in a new tab, and the backend creates the wave with a “Released” status. If any errors occur during wave creation, a detailed message is displayed immediately.

Can I modify a sales order after the wave is created?

Yes, but first you must change the existing wave status to Completed. Once that's done, you can edit the sales order and make the necessary changes. After updating, a new wave can be created for the modified sales order.

Does this work with partial commits?

Yes. The system ensures that only the quantities committed are included in the wave, even if part of the order is backordered.

Will happens if a wave already exists.

Attempting to create a wave for the item lines in a sales order that already has one will trigger an error message to prevent duplicates.

What happens if there are no committed item quantities?

If no item quantities are committed or if all quantities are already included in an existing wave, the system displays an error message instead of generating a wave or picking ticket.
