NetSuite 2026.2 Release Notes: What's New Across Finance, Security, Inventory, and Manufacturing

our insights

As security requirements evolve and operational efficiency becomes a board-level priority, staying current with ERP capabilities is no longer optional. NetSuite 2026.2 addresses both demands directly, with enhancements spanning authentication, banking, inventory, manufacturing, employee management, and CPQ. For businesses running NetSuite, this release is less a routine update than a checkpoint: several changes, particularly around authentication, set deadlines that IT teams need to plan against now rather than in 2027. This guide breaks down what changed, what it means for finance, IT, operations, and manufacturing leaders specifically, and what to check before the next release.

What Is NetSuite 2026.2?

NetSuite 2026.2 is one of Oracle NetSuite's two scheduled annual version upgrades, with enhancements across financial management, banking, inventory, manufacturing, analytics, security, and other areas of the platform. The release combines updates to existing business processes with a push toward automation, traceability, and control across each of those areas.
It also marks a further step in the rollout of NetSuite Next, Oracle's AI-powered and more conversational way of interacting with NetSuite. NetSuite Next is being introduced progressively to eligible accounts rather than switched on for everyone at once, and 2026.2 includes the administrative controls that let account administrators manage who gets access to it.

What Authentication Changes Are Coming in NetSuite 2026.2?

NetSuite 2026.2 makes its most consequential changes in authentication, and IT and security leaders should treat this section as the one with actual deadlines attached.
Passwordless sign-in with passkeys is now supported, letting users authenticate without entering a password at login. This does not eliminate every password prompt in the account. In our experience helping clients roll out new authentication methods, a small number of higher-risk actions inside the account typically still require a password as a fallback control, and businesses should confirm which actions those are before assuming passkeys replace passwords entirely. Separately, users with FIDO2-compliant passkeys can now use them as a second authentication factor at login, in place of a standalone authenticator app.
On the deprecation side, Oracle has set a firm date: support for NLAuth authentication on RESTlets ends in NetSuite 2027.1. Businesses running NLAuth-based integrations should begin planning their transition now, with OAuth 2.0 recommended as the replacement. Token-Based Authentication (TBA) follows a similar but staged path. Beginning with NetSuite 2027.1, new integrations using TBA can no longer be created for SOAP web services, REST web services, or RESTlets, though existing TBA integrations will continue working at that stage. NetSuite implementation partners tracking Oracle's roadmap, including Terillium, have flagged 2028.1 as the likely date for full TBA retirement, though Oracle's own release documentation has not yet confirmed that date, so it should be treated as directional rather than fixed.
Finally, NetSuite will require PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange) for all new integrations built on the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow. This closes a known gap in the authorization code exchange and is a meaningful hardening step for any business building new integrations from 2026.2 onward.

How Does NetSuite 2026.2 Change Bank Reconciliation?

Banking and reconciliation get a meaningful automation upgrade in this release, aimed squarely at reducing the manual effort finance teams spend matching transactions each period.
Suggested Transaction Matches now identifies likely matches for finance teams to review before reconciliation, and Payment Application Recommendations extends the same logic to recommend payments for eligible customer invoices and vendor payables within the reconciliation workflow. Together, these reduce the manual searching that typically precedes a match.
Oracle has also collapsed a step in the submission process. Matching or clearing a transaction and submitting it for reconciliation used to be two separate actions; NetSuite 2026.2 combines them, and where the applicable preference is enabled, eligible exact matches generated by reconciliation rules can be submitted automatically without a user action at all. Expanded system notes now capture key reconciliation events, including clearing, matching, submission, reconciliation, and reversal activity, which strengthens the audit trail available to finance teams during a review. Bank reconciliation pages also now surface additional match and submission detail, including who performed a matching or submission action, giving finance leaders clearer visibility into how a reconciliation was actually completed.

What's New in Employee Time Tracking and Labour Cost Reporting?

NetSuite 2026.2 expands Start Time and End Time fields across timesheets and time-tracking forms, giving businesses more granular employee time records than duration alone provided. Changes to these fields, along with Duration, are now recorded with the person who made the change, the date and time it was made, and the updated values, creating a clearer audit trail for reviewing edits to time data.
Two new reports, the Labor Costs Report and the Labor Costs and Revenue Insights Report, give financial leaders visibility into workforce spending across subsidiaries, departments, locations, and reporting periods without building a custom saved search to get there.

How Does NetSuite 2026.2 Strengthen Inventory and Supply Planning?

Inventory and supply planning is where this release adds the most net-new capability rather than incremental improvement to existing features.
Pegging Analysis workbooks show the relationships between supply and demand across different levels, letting supply planners understand dependencies and prioritise supply against both current and future demand. Inventory Optimization, a newer capability, uses demand patterns, lead-time variability, and service-level targets to help determine planning parameters such as safety stock and reorder points, and now includes exception detection that surfaces projected stock-outs, shortages, and overstocks in one place so planners can focus on what actually needs attention rather than scanning every SKU.
Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) also extends into supply planning in this release: supply plan definitions can now feed into RCCP, connecting supply requirements with capacity analysis so planners can assess whether available machine and labour capacity can actually support a planned supply schedule before committing to it. Separately, businesses using Multi-Location Inventory can now define an initial average cost for new inventory and assembly items by location, which can also support estimated assembly cost calculations when using the Costed Bill of Materials SuiteApp.

What Changed in Item and Pricing Record Management?

For businesses running dynamic item collections and customer groups inside price rules, NetSuite now refreshes group membership in advance rather than rerunning the underlying saved search every time a price is evaluated, which should reduce processing overhead on pricing-heavy transactions.
Sales order lines now carry additional pricing context, showing whether a price came from base pricing, a rule-based price, or a customer-specific price, so users can identify the pricing source directly from the line rather than reverse-engineering it. Pricing records can now be imported through the CSV Import Assistant, which matters for any business managing large volumes of pricing data, and a dedicated Price Level view gives a consolidated look at pricing configurations across customers and items. The Sales Pricing Overview Workbook adds a Sales by Price Rule pivot table, showing the value of invoiced transactions generated by each active price rule, a useful tool for evaluating which pricing rules are actually contributing to revenue.

What Manufacturing Capabilities Does NetSuite 2026.2 Add?

Manufacturers get their own version of Rough-Cut Capacity Planning in this release, letting them compare required and available machine and labour capacity across work centres before production constraints turn into execution problems on the shop floor. Manufacturers can also now bulk update manufacturing charge costs on production transactions, using either current purchase prices or specified unit costs, which removes a manual, transaction-by-transaction step that previously slowed down cost updates after a price change.

What Is the NetSuite CPQ AI Assistant?

Where available, the CPQ AI Assistant uses generative AI to guide sales representatives and buyers through complex product configurations using natural-language prompts, rather than requiring users to navigate configuration rules manually. Users can also now attach files directly to a transaction during the product configuration process itself, keeping supporting documents attached to the resulting transaction rather than added separately afterward.

How Does NetSuite 2026.2 Affect Different Business Leaders?

According to Gartner Senior Director Analyst Mike Helsel, by 2029, CFOs in organisations that implement strategic AI and technology-portfolio resource deployment will add an additional 10 points of margin growth. Helsel's point is specific: the gain comes from managing finance technology as a portfolio, strengthening what already works and scaling AI only where governance is mature, not from isolated pilots. That distinction is the right lens for reading NetSuite 2026.2, because the release rewards businesses that connect its individual features to a broader plan rather than adopting them piecemeal.

What Should IT Teams Check Before NetSuite 2027.1?

IT teams should review every integration that authenticates using Token-Based Authentication or NLAuth and identify which business processes actually depend on each one. With NLAuth support for RESTlets ending in NetSuite 2027.1, and new TBA-based integrations phased out at the same release, early planning is what prevents this from becoming a disruption. The practical starting point is the same audit described above: list active integrations, flag which ones sit on the deprecation timeline, and migrate to OAuth 2.0 on a schedule the business controls rather than one Oracle's deadline forces.

The Bottom Line

NetSuite 2026.2 reflects a continued shift toward stronger controls, smarter planning, and more connected business processes. For businesses running NetSuite, the release is a clear opportunity to refine how finance, operations, and technology teams work with the platform. Decision-makers should focus on identifying which updates affect their own processes, data, and technology roadmap, and where the available effort will deliver the most business value, rather than trying to adopt everything in the release at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is NetSuite 2026.2?

NetSuite 2026.2 is Oracle NetSuite's latest scheduled ERP release, delivering new capabilities across authentication, banking, inventory, manufacturing, pricing, employee management, and CPQ. It is one of Oracle's two annual version upgrades, and it also advances the rollout of NetSuite Next, Oracle's AI-powered interface.

Is NetSuite Next the same as NetSuite 2026.2?

No. NetSuite 2026.2 is a scheduled version upgrade, while NetSuite Next is Oracle's AI-powered interface being introduced progressively to eligible accounts rather than as a single release. NetSuite 2026.2 includes the administrative controls that support NetSuite Next's rollout, including managing which roles can access it.

What authentication changes should IT teams plan for first?

The most time-sensitive change is the end of NLAuth support for RESTlets, which takes effect in NetSuite 2027.1. New Token-Based Authentication integrations for SOAP, REST, and RESTlets are also restricted starting at that same release, though existing TBA integrations keep working at that stage. OAuth 2.0 with PKCE is Oracle's recommended path forward for new integrations.

How does NetSuite 2026.2 reduce manual work in bank reconciliation?

NetSuite 2026.2 combines transaction matching or clearing with reconciliation submission into a single step, and can automatically submit eligible exact matches when the applicable preference is enabled. Suggested Transaction Matches and Payment Application Recommendations also reduce the manual searching finance teams previously did before a match.

What does Rough-Cut Capacity Planning do in NetSuite 2026.2?

Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) lets manufacturers and supply planners compare required capacity against available machine and labour capacity across work centres before committing to a production or supply plan. NetSuite 2026.2 introduces RCCP for both manufacturing work centres and supply plan definitions, connecting capacity analysis directly to planning rather than treating it as a separate check.

What benefits does NetSuite 2026.2 offer manufacturers specifically?

Manufacturers gain Rough-Cut Capacity Planning to compare demand against available capacity before production constraints become execution problems, and the ability to bulk update manufacturing charge costs on production transactions using current purchase prices or specified unit costs. Together these reduce two categories of manual, transaction-by-transaction work that previously slowed down production planning and costing.

Is NetSuite 2026.2 suitable for growing mid-market businesses?

Yes, though the release rewards businesses that plan rather than adopt every feature at once. According to Gartner, CFOs who deploy AI and technology strategically, managed as a portfolio rather than isolated pilots, are positioned to add measurably higher margin growth by 2029. NetSuite 2026.2's automation and planning features give growing businesses the underlying capability; the value comes from applying it deliberately.
