Credit Card Nickname Field in SCA Webstore
One of our US-based clients is a leading fiber optic technology group. They approached us with a request to add a nickname for credit cards on the website. They made this request to identify one from the other.
Requirement
Our client required us to add a nickname for credit cards on the website. We have added this functionality in the My Account section also.
Solution
Jobin & Jismi’s developers took on the task of adding a nickname to the credit cards. There is an unused field named ‘Memo’ under ‘credit card’ in the NetSuite Customer Record. Our team of experts decided to take that field for the nickname.
When the user enters the nickname and submits it, it automatically appears in the NetSuite Customer Record also. Once the record saves the nickname, the credit card section on My Account displays it. And so do the checkout pages.
Benefit
By adding nicknames, customers using multiple credit cards can easily one from another.
Risk
Customization is a risky affair in the credit card section. Adding an extra field under the credit card section is not feasible. Our developers found that the field ‘memo’ was the only vacant slot. They had to migrate data from the front end.
They used an ‘extension’ and ‘Suitelet’, which was quite challenging.
Result
Our team of experts was able to meet the client’s requirements successfully. Our intervention helped them to display the nickname field on the website much to their satisfaction.
